Task types

The Type field identifies what kind of work a TaskTracker item represents. The available types shown in this workflow are:

  • Task — planned work, an improvement, or another action to complete;
  • Bug — a defect or error that needs to be corrected.

Type is separate from Priority and Status. Priority indicates urgency, while status shows the current stage of work. Keeping these fields separate makes filtering and reporting more useful.

Select a type when creating a task

  1. Open Projects & Tasks.

  1. Click Add New Task in the toolbar or use the add-task action in a project row.

  1. Select the project, set the priority, and enter the required task title.
  2. Open the Type list and select Task or Bug.

  1. Complete the remaining fields, such as status, dates, estimate, description, assignee, budget, rate, and currency.
  2. Click Save.

Change the type of an existing task

  1. Open Projects & Tasks and click Expand to display the task list.

  1. If necessary, click Filters and narrow the list by phrase, date, status, priority, type, group, or user.

  1. Open the task by clicking its title or edit action.
  2. Change the Type field. Review any other fields you modify at the same time.
  3. Click Save.

Filter tasks by type

Use the Type filter to view Tasks or Bugs separately. Combine it with status, priority, dates, group, or user when you need a more specific list. Clear the filters to return to all project tasks.
